Discover ReelShort App Micro Drama Roundup
The Episode Is the Unit of Measurement
Seasons are not the unit here, and that is the first thing to settle, because a short drama is not measured in seasons. Published definitions of the format are narrow, describing vertical 9:16 series assembled from episodes of one to two minutes, usually 20 to 100 episodes per story. For Western-made episodes, TheWrap records a narrower band still, 60 to reel short drama 100 seconds apiece. So the answer depends entirely on whether you mean a single episode or the whole story. A full series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. One episode runs shorter than most pop songs. Every total run time quoted here is my own multiplication of a published episode count by that published episode-length range. No app I checked publishes a total run time, so nobody can hand you one.
Episode Counts Range From 30 to 100
What swings wildly is the count, not the episode length, which barely moves between titles. Across the twelve series I could check against an official app page, the counts run from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. The short one is GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen at 30, just above the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. With 100, GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return is the long one, placed precisely on the ceiling. The middle belongs to the ReelShort titles: The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. Married at First Sight is given as 89 on its ReelShort movie page, and on GoodShort, Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter shows 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out shows 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia shows 86. Added together, all twelve come to 816 episodes, which is an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. The finding that matters is the clustering: most short series land in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions.
Why Certain Counts Deserve an Asterisk
Episode counts are slipperier than they look, so whoever quotes one should name the page it came from. For The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband, third-party listings give 49 and 120, whereas the official page for the show says 60, and neither of those third-party numbers belongs near a calculation. Within one site, Married at First Sight repeats the problem: the movie page says 89 episodes, and another page for the same series says 90. That one-episode gap is trivial for a viewer and fatal for anyone claiming precision. Two counts above are explicitly flagged as including the trailer, True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, so the story proper is one episode shorter in each case. Rather than quietly subtracting, I have kept the published figure, as adjusting a number in silence is how bad data spreads. Treat each count as a label attached to one page on one date, not a permanent property of the show.
The Sum, Stated Plainly
The whole method follows, so you can redo it or reject it. Take one minute an episode as the floor and two minutes an episode as the ceiling, apply them to the published count, and a range appears. That puts a 60-episode series at 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours. For the 100-episode Dragon King’s Return it gives 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. If a show was made in the West, TheWrap’s 60-to-100-second band narrows things: the same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. None of it comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none accounts for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. Built on two published numbers, they stay estimates, and I would sooner show the working than fake a precision the sources do not support.
Twelve Documented Series, Measured Out
That multiplication is applied to every title above in the table below. The episode counts come from each show’s own app page; the run times are mine. Read each range as a floor and a ceiling, not a prediction, since real episodes land somewhere inside it. The platform column matters less than people assume, since the format definition is the same on both.
| Series | App | Episodes | Estimated total run time (my calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen | GoodShort | 30 | 30–60 min |
| Not the Bride He Wanted | ReelShort | 57 | 57–114 min |
| The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband | ReelShort | 60 | 60–120 min |
| True Luna | ReelShort | 61 with the trailer counted | 61 to 122 min |
| Love on the Sidelines | ReelShort | 64 | 64 to 128 min |
| Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter | GoodShort | 64 | 64–128 min |
| Three Strikes, Dad’s Out | GoodShort | 65 | 65–130 min |
| Fated to the Alpha | ReelShort | 70 | 70–140 min |
| Breaking the Ice | ReelShort | 70 including trailer | 70 to 140 min |
| Kidnapped by the Mafia | GoodShort | 86 | 86 to 172 min |
| Married at First Sight | ReelShort | 89 as the movie page has it | 89–178 min |
| The Dragon King’s Return | GoodShort | 100 | 100 to 200 min |
Two things are hard to miss in that last column. Only one title in twelve could fill a single hour and stop, and only one could run past three hours. A two-hour film’s worth of story, delivered in sixty-odd pieces, is what everything else amounts to.
What a Binge Actually Takes
Pure run time is the easy part of the calculation and the misleading one. A 60-episode short drama at 60 to 120 minutes is a single evening, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. The whole twelve-title table stacks up to 816 episodes, which by the same multiplication is roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. Everything between the episodes is what that total ignores. Free opening episodes end quickly, and after that each unlock is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, and ReelShort’s own blog says one ad unlocks two premium episodes. Fifty paid episodes therefore comes to twenty-five ads, and because no company publishes how long those ads run, I will not invent a number. Anyone who watches short dramas online at a steady pace usually finds the real evening runs longer than the arithmetic says. Buying your way past the interruptions means a weekly pass, about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.
How Two Minutes Bends the Writing
Here, length is not just a stat but the script’s structure itself. At 60 to 100 seconds an episode gives the writer roughly one beat and one reversal, and the reversal must land on the final shot. Hence a hook that arrives before you have settled, and cliffhangers that feel relentless rather than occasional. The same clock governs production, and TheWrap reports $150,000 to $300,000 per series with shoots of eight to ten days. A ten-day shoot that has to yield seventy of them leaves nobody room for leisurely scenes. The paywall is another piece of the same shape, since the first eight to ten episodes are usually free, and ReelShort’s blog gives five to fifteen, which puts the first real decision point about ten minutes in. Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter, a 64-episode show, therefore has to seed a betrayal, a reversal and a payoff inside about the run time of one film, broken into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.
How to Choose a Series by Its Length
Once you can read the numbers, picking becomes practical rather than guesswork. For one sitting and a clean finish, counts in the thirties are what you want, as My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen shows at 30 episodes. If you want something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot here, and that is where most short dramas sit anyway. More subplots come with a count near 100, and so does a bill that grows in step. Exactly the error that ruins a plan is a gap between 49 and 120 for one title, which is why you should check the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing before you start. Then do the multiplication yourself, because it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. There is the whole trick to knowing how long a short series will really hold you.
